The state-of-the-art 'Block A' of The Indian High School, Oud Metha was inaugurated by H.H Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum during our 60th Diamond Jubilee Year. The sprawling Block A stands at a massive 60,000 square feet with 44 classrooms and other facilities. Block A is a representation of what the school stands for - tradition, values, responsibilities, and humanitarian spirit.
Chief Guest and the revered patron of the school, H.H Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President-Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman-Dubai Airports, Chairman & CEO – Emirates Group; Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Director-General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Dr. Omar Al Muthanna, CEO Licensing & Monitoring Sector, CDA other esteemed dignitaries and board members graced the function with their graceful presence. Hon. Chairman, Mr. Girish C. Jethwani led the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests to the newly inaugurated block. H.H Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum was given a guided tour of the new block by senior student representatives who appraised him of the heritage and history of their school.
The new building, Block A, boasts over 44 classrooms for grade 7 & 8 boys, state-of-the-art office rooms, engaging activity centers, and laboratories with adaptable learning and research space as approved by Dubai Municipality. Block A, with its tall rise and structure, strikes a balance between the school’s proud heritage and competitive technology.
The school presented the special logo of 60@50 and gifted our beloved patron unique artwork in the form of bio sketches of His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan; explained the concept of the Happiness Tent (Hadhhi Khaymat Al Saaed), inspired by the offices of Dr. Abdulla Al Karam and our regulator the KHDA; elaborated on the ‘Param Hans’ (Hindi for Special Swan), symbolizing knowledge, grace, and harmony - values which The Indian High Group of Schools represent. The students recollected how during the pandemic several board members and the concerned individuals offered significant financial support to the school during COVID. This ensured that learning continued for all in spite of serious financial distress, and we also had seven convocations for the graduating class to ensure that no student or parent would miss this remarkable milestone.
Hon. Chairman expressed warm regards and appreciation by presenting several mementos to H.H Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The ceremony was concluded by quoting the words of Frank Gehry, “Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness”. ‘Block A’ is the new pillar to the living legacy of The Indian High Group of Schools.
