It is Ann Mary all the way at the World Scholar’s Cup Championship

This year's World Scholar's Cup Tournament of Champions - 2023 had over 2500 scholars from across the globe gather to showcase their intellectual prowess at Yales. Among the standout performers was Ann Mary Joseph, a grade 9 student at The Indian High School, Oud Metha campus, who emerged as a shining star, clinching an unbelievable 13 medals in total.

Ann's remarkable feat included 9 gold medals and 4 silver medals across all four events – debate, writing, challenge, and bowl. Notably, she excelled both individually and as part of her hybrid team from Canada.

The pinnacle of the team’s achievement was securing the first-place overall position among more than 500 competing teams. This prestigious title was earned after navigating through three challenging rounds of competition – regional, global, and the Tournament of Champions (ToC). With a cumulative score exceeding 30,000 points, Ann's team claimed the top spot as the highest-scoring junior team at the ToC, marking one of the highest scores ever recorded. Additionally, they secured first place in the team challenge and an impressive ninth place in team writing.

The success did not go unnoticed, as Ann and her teammates, being the top junior team at the ToC, were interviewed by the media. The coverage of this interview is set to be released on social media within a month's time, allowing a broader audience to celebrate their accomplishments.

In the Scholar's Challenge round, Ann's brilliance continued to shine. She secured gold medals in Science and History, showcasing her versatility. Additionally, she earned silver medals in Art & Music and Special Area. Ann emerged as the second-highest scorer from the Gulf region, further solidifying her standing as a well-rounded scholar.

The World Scholar's Cup Tournament of Champions provides a platform for global scholars to demonstrate their academic prowess, and Ann's outstanding performance has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on this prestigious competition.
